Manuscripts, reviews and their interactive companions.

In review · English for Specific Purposes

A systematic and critical review of move-analysis methodology in ESP/JEAP (1988–2024)

A critical synthesis of how move analysis has actually been done, not just applied: genres studied, research questions, annotation units, coding-scheme origin, coder setup and inter-rater reliability across the empirical literature.

  • N = 75 empirical studies, coded with an objective, rule-based scheme
  • Findings on genre coverage, scheme reuse and reporting practice
  • Argues for reporting standards that make schemes reusable and machine-ready
The review is under double-anonymized peer review; the manuscript is therefore not posted here. The interactive explorer lets readers browse, filter and inspect every coded study behind the review's claims. A copy of the manuscript is available on request.

Projects & tools

Research software built for, and used in, the work above.

Tool · invite only

Corgent — agentic corpus & manuscript annotation

A full-stack workspace for research corpora and threaded manuscript annotations: content-hashed manuscript blocks, threaded comments, and an AI-assisted reading layer over large journal corpora.

  • Corpus search across ESP/JEAP/CALL collections
  • Block-level annotation with discussion threads
  • FastAPI + PostgreSQL backend, React front-end
Tool · agent API

Narrated lesson videos, generated from an outline

An agent-callable pipeline that turns notes, a script, a slide deck or a recorded talk into a designed, narrated lesson video with captions — used to produce course micro-lessons and research explainers.

  • Outline / PPTX / transcript → designed deck + voice-over
  • Recordings: filler & silence removal, re-timed captions
  • Token-authenticated HTTP API for other agents

About

What ties these together.

The through-line is research infrastructure: corpora that can be searched in full text, methodology that is coded and published as data rather than asserted in prose, and agents that read, annotate and produce scholarly artefacts without hiding how they were made.
